Gian van Veen Darts

Gian van Veen is one of the newer names on the PDC scene, moving quickly up the ranks from youth success to being a regular title contender. The Dutch professional has won back-to-back World Youth Championships in 2024 and 2025, and claimed the 2025 European Championship with an 11-10 final win over then world number one, Luke Humphries.

Explore Darts Corner’s Gian van Veen signature darts collection, available in a choice of designs and specification levels across the Diamond and Axis S.E. ranges. If you’re looking for straight, parallel tungsten barrels and a setup developed for professionals at the highest level, Darts Corner has you covered.

Gian van Veen’s signature playing darts are the Red Dragon Gian van Veen Switch Darts. These 21g, 90% tungsten Diamond darts with Silver Groove Micro 45mm playing points are designed for speed and control, incorporating Switch Point technology. This makes them universally compatible with Target Swiss Point, Harrows Quick Points and Caliburn Evo EZ Points, so you can customise your point style without changing barrels.

Gian van Veen is leading the charge of the new generation of Dutch darts players. Born in Poederoijen in 2002, GVV began playing darts at a young age and reportedly watched the 2011 World Championship final between Adrian Lewis and Gary Anderson, which helped inspire his ambition to reach the professional stage.

Earning his Tour Card for 2023, “The Giant”, who towers in at 6 feet 4 inches tall, quickly made an impact, reaching the semi-finals of the 2023 European Championship after defeating Michael van Gerwen in the quarter-finals. In 2025, he won the European Championship and retained his World Youth title, before going on to reach the 2026 PDC World Championship final.

Gian van Veen’s Diamond Switch Darts are 21g with 90% tungsten and a 50.8mm parallel barrel. They’re great for a quick release, while still giving feedback as you throw. They feature Winmau Switch Point technology too, so you can quickly change the points without repointing the barrel. Each set also comes with 45mm Silver Groove Micro Points and short Nitro Flite integrated flights, so you can recreate Van Veen’s preferred setup.

The standard Van Veen Diamond Darts are a more traditional version of his signature setup. They’re the same 21g weight and 90% tungsten as the Switch darts, but they have a shorter 48.3mm barrel and a fixed steel-point setup. They’re perfect if you prefer a simpler setup without needing to change points.

Also a 90% tungsten dart, the Van Veen Axis S.E. is available in 21g and 24g, so you can choose the weight that best suits your throwing style. It has a full-length milled grip and a straight barrel, so you can hold it with control and consistency.

Gian van Veen is from Poederoijen, a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland.

Gian van Veen’s walk-on song is “Astronomia” by Tony Igy and Vicetone. He has said: “Astronomia is the walk-on song that fires me up and locks me in before I step on stage. It sets the tone, lifts the energy and gets me ready to go all-in the moment the lights hit. The energy, the pulse, the sound, it puts me exactly where I need to be.” (Source: Instagram)

Gian van Veen is pronounced “Khee-ahn Vahn Vayn”. His first name sounds like “Ian” with a soft Dutch “G” at the beginning, similar to the “ch” sound in “loch”.
